Joe Jonas is calling out Lorde for her recent comments about Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift.
As he tweeted on October 4, 2013, "Hey @lordemusic you say call me Queen B but you shouldn't be attacking all the true Queen B-tches's #respect."
Although he didn't mention specific names, he was very likely referring to the New Zealand singer's comments about Gomez and Swift.
In a September 28 interview, Lorde took issue with the lyrics of Gomez' single, "Come and Get It," arguing that the song encouraged women to take a passive role in relationships.
Then, in the October 2013 issue of New Zealand's Metro, the "Royals" singer suggested that Swift was "too flawless and unattainable," and that it sent a negative message to young women who idolized her looks.
Later, Lorde backpedaled a bit, explaining that the comments were taken out of context and that she hadn't really meant to single Swift out.
She explained that her comments were more related to society's obsession with looks, rather than the country star herself. "What i meant was: there’s a lot of importance placed on physical perfection in this industry, and i wish my favorite stars didn’t look perfect because i think fans (me included) have these feelings of worthlessness, like they’ll never be as pretty/talented/whatever, as a result of this intense photoshop culture and the endless strive for perfection."
Still, it sounds like the 16-year-old knows that she messed with the wrong fan base. "I am very very new to this whole thing...basically, this is an apology for not thinking too hard before i speak. peace."
Do you agree with Joe Jonas? Did Lorde mess with the wrong Queen Bees?
