While announcing on Tuesday the addition of Carl Edwards to its NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver stable for 2015, Joe Gibbs Racing also announced that Daniel Suarez will drive a Nationwide Series entry for the organization full-time next year, in addition to a partial Camping World Truck Series schedule.
"Having the opportunity to run full-time in the NASCAR Nationwide Series with Joe Gibbs Racing is like a dream come true," Suarez said. "Everyone knows how successful they have been in the Nationwide Series, and I can't think ARRIS enough for supporting me next season."
Suarez's multi-year deal with Joe Gibbs Racing is part of a diversity initiative between JGR and Escuderia TELMEX, with support from ARRIS, according to a release from the race team. The program's mission is to provide opportunities to Mexican and Latin American racers through the NASCAR Toyota Series in Mexico and other NASCAR racing series.
"We are excited to have Daniel Suarez as part of that program and look forward to watching his development in the NASCAR Nationwide Series next season," team owner Joe Gibbs said.
Suarez is a full-time competitor in the NASCAR Toyota Series this year and is the current championship leader. So far this season, he has four wins and six top-fives in 10 races in the series. In all, Suarez has nine-career wins in 53 Toyota Series starts.
Suarez also competes in the K&N Pro Series East for Rev Racing through NASCAR's Drive for Diversity program. In that series, he has two wins and four top-five finishes in 12 races this season. Suarez also won a K&N East race in 2013. In all, he had three wins and 12 top-fives in 42-career starts in the series.
