Joe Biden, known for opening his mouth and sticking his proverbial foot in, is at it again.
On Jan. 3, 2013, Vice President Biden made a "spread your legs" comment that will likely go down in the record books as one that tops his notorious "This is a big f-ing deal" remark to President Obama after the Affordable Care Act was signed in 2010.
On Thursday, Biden posed for photos with newly sworn-in senators and their families.
When a photographer asked the husband of North Dakota Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D) to put his hands by his sides, Biden piped up and said, "Spread your legs: You're going to be frisked."
Biden quickly explained his comment to the crowd, saying, "You say that to somebody in North Dakota, they think it's a frisk."
Heitkamp's husband, Darwin Lange, seemed uncomfortable after the vice president's comment.
Biden then tried to lighten things up by asking, "They think you're in trouble, right?"
Lange just shrugged, but his wife laughed it off.
Joe Biden continued to joke about his "spread your legs" comment saying, "I'm a little too formal, I know."
