On March 25, 2013, the Jodi Arias murder trial resumed with an expressive display of frustration by prosecutor Juan Martinez as he questioned the credibility of defense expert, psychologist Richard Samuels, and accused him of having “feelings” for Arias, according to the Morning Sun.
Arias, 32, is charged with the brutal 2008 murder of her former lover, Arizona man Travis Alexander, 30. He was stabbed over two dozen times, was shot in the head, and his throat was slashed. She claims she killed him in self-defense, but during the trial Arias has testified she does not remember much about the deadly confrontation.

Samuels diagnosed Arias with post traumatic stress disorder and amnesia after meeting with her numerous times behind bars.
The Sun reports Samuels “feverishly defended his work” on the stand Monday as Martinez accused him of having “feelings for the defendant!”

Samuels responded with, “I beg your pardon, sir,” as Arias’ defense attorneys objected to the prosecutor’s accusation.
At one point during his questioning of Samuels, Martinez pounded on the table, which appeared to “rattle” the psychologist, according to the Sun.

The report indicates that some jurors appeared to be bored by the questioning of Samuels, with one jury member resting his head in his hands and another bending over as he “picked at his fingers.”
If convicted of Alexander’s murder, Arias could receive the death penalty.
