Jodi Arias trial focuses on sexual deviance, masturbation, attraction to boys

On March 5, 2013, Jodi Arias continued her testimony during the second day of redirect, taking the focus off the killing of Ariz. man Travis Alexander and testifying instead about sex and her former lover’s alleged deviant proclivities, according to ABC News.

Arias’ attorney, Kirk Nurmi, asked his client to read diary entries to explain her claim that Alexander had an attraction to little boys.

“Something is just off with that boy,” she read from a jury entry she says she wrote after allegedly walking in on Alexander masturbating in his bedroom as he looked at the photo of a male child.

According to ABC, Nurmi’s line of questioning on Tuesday was geared toward painting Alexander as some sort of sexual deviant who became more and more aggressive and violent with Arias, which she claims eventually led to her killing him in self-defense.

ABC notes that Nurmi attempted to “…portray Arias as a naïve victim to a man [Alexander] with a nearly-predatory sex drive.”

Prosecutors argue Arias, 32, killed Alexander, 30, in cold blood as he showered in his Mesa home in 2008. He was stabbed 27 times, his throat was slashed, and he was shot in the head. After initially lying about his death, she admitted killing Alexander, but claims she did so in self-defense.
