Jodi Arias murder trial: She can't recall stabbing former boyfriend 27 times

Jodi Arias told jurors yesterday that “the killing” took less than a minute, although she could not remember details as she elicited her testimony from the witness stand in Maricopa County Superior Court. Jodi Arias, 32, has maintained since the start of her murder trial on Jan. 2, that she killed her lover, Travis Alexander, in self-defense. On Wednesday, she claimed that 30 year-old Alexander, with whom she’d had a two-year-long “lust/hate” relationship, had slammed her to the floor after she dropped his camera while filming his demise, that according to AZCentral.com.

Jodi claims she has no recollection of the actual killing, but that the next thing she remembers is finding herself driving barefoot through the desert. She alleges she drove westward, with the sun in her eyes, before stopping to get rid of the murder weapon by tossing the gun into the weeds.

Arias then remembers washing the blood off her hands using bottled water that she retrieved from the trunk of her rental car. Jodi is on trial for fatally stabbing her ex-lover 27 times and shooting him in the head in a jealous rage.

Jodi Arias has been on the witness stand recounting in “precise detail”, one life event after another, except when it comes to the specific moment she admittedly murdered her ex boyfriend, that according to the N.Y. Daily News.

Arias does recall her abusive childhood, and detailed kinky sexual acts with former boyfriends. However, when pressed for answers about how she killed Travis Alexander, Jodi claims there’s a “huge gap” in her memory from June 4, 2008.

“I have no memory of stabbing him. I remember dropping the knife, and it clinked on the tile….And I just remember screaming. I don’t remember anything after that”, Arias said Wednesday.

Arias’ attorneys concluded their direct examination of her yesterday afternoon. The prosecution is set to begin their cross-examination today. Jodi Arias faces the death penalty if convicted of first-degree murder in Alexander’s 2008 killing.
