There's an online article titled, Top 5 Jobs Hiring Now by Dana Hinders (http://www.moneyandbusiness.com/careers/job-searching/research/top-5-jobs-hiring-now?src=ob) that is pretty interesting. She talked about job sectors that are in high demand for people who need a job (or maybe simply changing careers). There are employers in Savannah that fit each category Hinders described. According to Hinders, the top two job industries hiring are healthcare and education:
- If you're interested in the healthcare industry, try looking for employment at Memorial University Medical Center (http://www.memorialhealth.com/); St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital (http://www.sjchs.org/); or Georgia Regional Hospital at Savannah (http://www.garegionalsavannah.com/).
- As long as there are children in this world, there will continue to be a need for teachers and other professions in the education sector. To apply for an education-related job position, you have to apply with the local Board of Education: Savannah (http://internet.savannah.chatham.k12.ga.us/default.aspx); Hinesville (http://www.liberty.k12.ga.us/); Richmond Hill (http://www.bryan.k12.ga.us/); and Effingham County Schools (http://www.effinghamschools.com/site/default.aspx?PageID=1).
In most cases, you need to have a Bachelor's degree or higher to obtain a position in either job sector. If you currently do not have a college degree, the recommended school to get a higher education is Armstrong Atlantic State University (http://www.armstrong.edu/). They offer programs for both healthcare and education, and you also get hands-on experience to help prepare you for your job.
