Things are starting to look up for working people. The Florida unemployment rate is below 7 percent and more people are looking for and finding jobs.
The construction industry, which was almost dormant during the latest recession is coming back to life and offering more job opportunities. Hospitality and restaurant work has always been strong in Florida and is now offering even more opportunities. Culinary schools place more graduates as are schools that train people for hospitality management.
Healthcare continues to offer more and more opportunities. South Florida has a large and growing older population. This older population needs nurses, doctors, pharmacists, health technicians and health aides. Those who are trained in these areas can expect many career opportunities.
Also, there is a growing need for people in other service occupations such as retail and finance. Those who can teach science and special needs children will always have job opportunities. Many people are going back to school to learn new skill and professions. Expect things to better in 2014. Happy New Year.
