Joan Crawford is TCM Star of the Month for January

Turner Classic Movies rings in the new year with a full month of Joan Crawford movies airing on Thursday nights and Friday mornings throughout January 2014. The channel has a whopping 62 films and one interview lined up to celebrate the iconic leading lady. Here are some of the highlights from the January schedule of Crawford movies.

The programming kicks off with some of Crawford's earliest features on Thursday, January 2, beginning with the Lon Chaney silent, "The Unknown" (1927), which airs at 8 pm Eastern. Also lined up for January 2 is "Our Dancing Daughters" (1928) at 9 pm, which stars Crawford as a flapper living a wild life in the 1920s.

On Thursday, January 9, Crawford fans can see the star in the celebrated classic, "Grand Hotel" (1932), which begins at 8 pm. At 11:45 pm, "Dancing Lady" (1933) pairs Crawford with Clark Gable and Franchot Tone.

Crawford plays a vicious homewrecker in the all-female drama, "The Women" (1939), which airs on TCM at 8 pm on Thursday, January 16. The Crawford films continue through the night and into the morning of Friday, January 17, when Gable fans can catch the stars in "Strange Cargo" (1940) at 9:15 am.

On Thursday, January 23, Crawford appears in her Oscar-winning role as the title character in "Mildred Pierce" (1945). The movie occupies the prime time slot for the evening and begins at 8 pm. Also lined up for the night are "Humoresque" (1946) at 10 pm and "Possessed" (1947) at 3:45 am. On Friday, January 24, "Torch Song" (1953) airs at 12:45 pm.

Crawford's late career pictures get their airing on Thursday, January 30, with "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?" (1962) starting at 10:15 pm. The horror classic from director Robert Aldrich pairs Crawford with longtime rival Bette Davis as two aging sisters with a deeply dysfunctional relationship.
