JM Tobacco’s new Dominican Classic Habano joins the Connecticut and Maduro versions of their long-awaited boutique premium cigars. The line debuted in late 2012.
JM Dominican Classics are the company’s first 100% long-filler premium cigar since their 1995 entry into the market with Española. Since then, JM Tobacco has built its reputation solely on its value-priced handmade, 100% mixed-fill cigars. For small-cigar lovers, the company introduced the 4" x 32 JM Dominican Petit Classic in 2012, also a 100% handmade, long-filler short smoke, perfect for early day or as an aperitif.
The new cigar’s wrapper is Cuban-seed Habano leaf, and includes the same blend as the Connecticut and Maduro Classics. The filler moderates the Habano’s power for a smooth, creamy flavor profile, with hints of pepper and coffee. The resultant body is medium to full. Like the Classic Maduro and Connecticut predecessors, the Classic Habano is made in four traditional shapes: 6" x 44 Lonsdale, 5-1/2" x 50 Robusto Grande, 6-3/4" x 50 Churchill, and 6" x 52 Pyramide.
Quoting JM’s president, Anto Mahroukian, “All full-sized Classics are cello-tubed. They come in high-quality Spanish cedar boxes, holding 20 cigars each, with color-coded box labels for easy recognition .... red (Habano), black (Maduro) and brown/burgundy (Connecticut).” Suggested retail pricing is $120 ($6 per stick), and all JM Dominican Classic shapes are available from JM Tobacco’s 900 retailers in April. They are also available from JM’s newly revamped Web site (www.jmtobacco.com), on the Company Store page. Note: direct purchases are accepted only from buyers in zip codes without a JM retailer.
