Jennifer Lopez hit the stage at Saturday night's Wango Tango concert hosted by KiisFM at Los Angeles' Staples Center. The singer was the grand finale of the concert which hosted many artists including PitBull, Kesha and Selena Gomez.
PitBull closed his much anticipated set and walked off stage as the crowd awaited JLo's grand finale. It was then that the stage went dark and dancers emerged. It was a few seconds later when Jennifer Lopez slowly came up from below the stage, front and center. Wearing a silver catsuit, JLo came out in full force with high energy and 23,000 fans screaming her name.
But within the first couple minutes of her hit song "On the Floor," there was a glitch which cut off all sound for her microphone as well as instruments. JLo handled it as a true showstopper, with no hestitation. As she realized her sound was off, she did not pause, walk off stage or look uneasy. She continued her performance as if nothing was wrong, executing her dance breaks and attempting to sing into the muted microphone. At one point you saw her a bit in shock, as she shrugged her shoudlers and kept dancing. It only took a few seconds for all of JLo's fans sitting in Staples Center to begin singing "On the Floor" aloud. There was no hint of the microphone regaining power, JLo's voice was unable to be heard yet the song continued with the crowd taking lead vocals.
Within a couple minutes the sound glitch was fixed and JLo's microphone was on. KiisFM's Wango Tango was back on its stellar track. Excited she shouted, "Let's do it again from the top, this is what show buisness is all about." She also joked, "Someone is getting fired tonight." She then fiercely started from the top of her performance with "On the Floor" giving fans a chance to see the entire performance, sound and all. PitBull took the stage with JLo as they danced together and kept the crowd energized.
JLo's composure and humor during the mishap made for an even better set than one would have thought. When you have a true superstar on your hands a sound glitch does not mean a tainted performance, rather it made clear the power and class of JLo. A grand finale it was.
