JK Rowling sent a letter written from the perspective of “Harry Potter” character, “Dumbledore” to sole survivor Cassidy Stay, according to a Thursday story by People. Stay, 15, was the only one to survive the tragic shooting of her entire family in Spring, Texas. After healing from her gunshot wound, she spoke to the world, quoting a line said by the famous headmaster in “The Prisoner of Azkaban”.
In The Prisoner of Azkaban, Dumbledore says: 'Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light,' " Stay said.
The Houston Chronicle was able to confirm with JK Rowling’s spokesperson, Rebecca Salt, that she indeed send a package to the teen survivor, but she would not say what the contents were.
We can confirm that J.K. Rowling did indeed send a personalized letter to Cassidy Stay. The contents of the letter and how it came about are private and between her and Cassidy," JK’s spokesperson wrote.
Soon after the world saw Cassidy Stay’s heroic composure, a Facebook page with more than 8,000 likes was created to campaign for JK Rowling to meet the teen. The person who runs the page stated that Cassidy was indeed in contact with JK. In fact, the world famous children’s writer sent her a personalized letter written from “Dumbledore’s” perspective. It was even penned in purple ink!
Allegedly, the care package sent by Rowling also included Stay’s very own wand, a Hogwarts letter accepting her into the school of magic, a list of needed school supplies and a signed copy of “The Prisoner of Azkaban”. What a magical thing to do JK!
Additionally, there has been an enormous outpouring of support for Cassidy Stay, like a GoFundMe started for the teen that has more than $400,000 collected. The two people who started the fund state they plan to give the money to Stay so that she will not have to deal with financial problems after the tragic loss of her entire family of 4 siblings and both parents.
We only wanted to help Cassidy NEVER have to worry about the little things again after such a huge personal tragedy,” the fund creators wrote.
