For years, doctors told their overweight patients to cut the fat in their diets. Now, however, a small but growing percentage of physicians are defying conventional wisdom and recognizing that eating the right fats can actually burn fat. For an intriguing example of how a high fat, low-carb, ketogenic Paleo-style diet can make a dramatic difference, CBN News recently featured weight loss winner Jimmy Moore.
About 10 years ago, Jimmy felt like a loser when it came to weight loss. He weighed 410 pounds and "was wearing size 62-inch waist pants, I was wearing 5XL shirts, I was on three prescription medications for high cholesterol, high blood pressure, breathing problems," he recalled. "I was a mess."
Worried about her husband's health, his wife Christine prayed for help. And the answer from God, says Jimmy today, was to cut the carbohydrates. Result: He lost 180 pounds.
"And the big thing - came off the cholesterol lowering medication, came off the blood pressure medication, came off the breathing medication all within six or eight months," Jimmy said.
