On Monday night, Bill Nye “The Science Guy” was eliminated on “Dancing with the Stars.” On Oct. 1, the very next day, Jimmy Fallon joked about Nye during a special skit called “Pros and Cons.” The bit was very funny, even to die-hard fans that cheered for the lovable geek who was forced to dance in a boot.
On the last episode of “Dancing with the Stars,” Bill Nye, who tore 80% of his quadricep muscle during a performance on Sept. 23, was forced to perform in a leg brace and could move very little on the dance floor. His robotic performance earned a lowly score of 16 from judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba. However, they all applauded Nye for his tenacity and spirit. Goodman stated after raising his paddle, “My scores don’t reflect my admiration."
Even though he was eliminated on “DWTS,” Bill Nye is a champion among his legions of fans. According to “USA Today,” his total number of Twitter followers soared to over one million since appearing on the show. “He galvanized a geek-loving army that chanted his name resoundingly after he was voted off,” Bryan Alexander wrote. Jennifer Ouellette from “Scientific American” posted, “Nye danced his way through the pain and into a few million more hearts. He won the crowd’s admiration not for being the smartest guy in the room, or being the best dancer. He won it because he was willing to be vulnerable and do something difficult that was way out of his comfort zone.”
So, everyone is still talking about Bill Nye and his expected, but admirable, elimination. On Oct. 1, Jimmy Fallon discussed the pros and cons of dancing with Bill Nye on “DWTS.” He opened the segment by joking, “He (Bill Nye) was voted off ‘DWTS’ last night, but not before leaving us some lasting memories of his style, his grace and his raw sexuality.” Below are some of Fallon’s pros and cons. To see all of them, be sure to watch the video clip above and to the left.

Bill Nye was eliminated on Sept. 30 and said it might be a blessing in disguise. “I’m not going to be able to keep up,” he stated. He went on to thank his partner and added, “It’s been a great experience.”
