Jimmy Fallon is reportedly going to be replacing Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show.” Not only will the show be getting a new host, but it will also be moving back to New York, according to People on March 21.
There has not been a finalized deal yet with Fallon, but there are several network sources involved that the switch of hosts should happen by the fall of 2014.
Leno still has great ratings even though he has fell from the top spot a few nights when Jimmy Kimmel took the top spot. Leno also has a strained relationship with his bosses at NBC and has brought drama to the show with his feuds with both Kimmel and Letterman.
Fallon would bring a drama free show and be a great replacement considering his success on “Saturday Night Live.”
“The Tonight Show” is currently in Burbank, Calif. and will be moved back to New York where it originally began in 1954 with the host Steve Allen.
The changing of hosts on “The Tonight Show” would not be the first change during Leno’s time on the show. Leno was replaced by Conan O’Brien three years ago to be quickly put back after O’Brien could not attract a large enough audience. Jimmy Fallon seems like a perfect fit for the show. No doubt he will bring plenty of followers with him.
