Jimmy tracked down the Wheel of Fortune contestant that mispronounced a phrase making him lose the chance to win a million dollars. The reason? He offered the man a do over. Paul Atkinson, a firefighter from Oregon, took the stage of the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to have the chance to correct himself and say “corner curio cabinet.” On Friday the fans got to see what Atkinson was trying to say when he was on the game show.
“Jimmy tracked down the 'corner curio cabinet' Wheel of Fortune contestant and gave him a chance to redeem himself,” tweeted the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon on Friday. Sharing the moment with the fans, the talk show posted video of the segment.
The Wheel of Fortune player lost the possibility of a million dollars on Wheel of Fortune when he mispronounced “corner curio cabinet” and said “Corno curo cabinet.” The error had host Pat Sajak moving on to the next contestant in what was a shocker for everyone watching.
On the Late Show With Jimmy Fallon it was Atkinson who got the pronunciation right the second time and even won a prize. Getting an actual corner curio cabinet full of incidentals from the talk show, Paul was a good sport about the situation
As fans of Wheel of Fortune know, the stickler rules of the game sometimes trap contestants. Offering money and prizes, people get really excited and sometimes make simple mistakes. As with Paul Atkinson, there is no room for error as Pat Sajak is a stickler.
