Jimmy Fallon kicked off his first night as “Tonight Show” host by teaming up with guest Will Smith to cover the “Evolution of Hip Hop Dancing.” On the Feb. 17 premiere of the show, the newly crowned late night host and the “Men in Black” star donned “Fresh Prince” era denim overalls and sampled a series of hip hop dance moves that included the "Cabbage Patch,” "Running Man," “Spank That,” "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" and "The Robot."
The soundtrack included Naughty by Nature’s "Hip Hop Hooray" MC Hammer’s "U Can't Touch This,” and, perhaps the best one of all, Tom Jones’ “It’s Not Unusual,” which had the men busting out the moves to “The Carlton,” the iconic dance that Smith’s “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” co-star Alfonso Ribeiro frequently did on the ‘90s sitcom.
Of course, all good things must come to an end, and in this case things did when Fallon presented his own version of “The Twerk.” Smith couldn’t handle the late night host’s Miley moves, and he walked off the stage.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Fallon’s upcoming late night "Evolution of" dance videos will include "Evolution of Mom Dancing" with First Lady Michelle Obama and "Evolution of End Zone Dancing" with Justin Timberlake.
Fallon told radio host Ryan Seacrest following in Johnny Carson and Jy leno’s footsteps as host of “The Tonight Show” is his “dream job,” according to TV Guide.
“I'm freaking out right now," Fallon told Seacrest before the show. "It's so exciting. It's crazy. You see all the other hosts that come before and that's when it kind of kicked in," Fallon told Seacrest. "Those guys are legends. Just to be on the list, it doesn't make any sense to me. ... I get goosebumps."
