Jimmy Creech is a retired United Methodist pastor who defied the church's Social Prinicples and joined same sex couples in unions, and who had his credentials revoked as a result.

Creech will be in Birmingham this week, speaking at Discovery United Methodist Church on Wednesday, October 26, at 6:30. The event is open to the public.

Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson describes Creech as "A man who puts his life where his Gospel is!" He also states "The LGBT community will forever owe him a debt for his sacrifice and his witness to the love of God for ALL of God's children."

Jimmy Creech tells his story in a memoir, "Adam's Gift": A Memoir of a Pastor's Calling to Defy the Church's Persecution of Lesbians and Gays."

Discovery United Methodist Church is located at 5487 Stadium Trace Parkway, Hoover, AL.
