Jimmy Buffett's luxury yacht available for charter in the Caribbean and Bahamas (Photos)

Boating ballads and sailing songs are synonymous with the tropical lifestyle portrayed in the songs of Jimmy Buffett. He does have two and a half of Discover Boating’s top ten boating songs, after all. Many a Parrot Head has wanted to slip away to the idyllic lifestyle of Margaritaville. Well, now that is a possibility.

For the first time ever, Jimmy Buffett is making his 124’ luxury motor yacht available for charter. Famous for songs about sailing the blue waters of the Caribbean, Buffett is making the tropical lifestyle available to a fortunate few who wish to charter his Delta motor yacht, the Continental Drifter III. She (boats are “she” in case you were wondering) is based in St. Barths in the winter and the Bahamas in the summer.

“This is a rare opportunity, as to the best of my knowledge this is the first time Jimmy has offered his yacht for charter outside of family and friends.”

The amazing thing about the Continental Drifter III is that it is small enough to get into the small secluded cays, coves and anchorages that larger vessels can’t, yet it is very seaworthy. The seaworthiness is due to her “zero speed” stabilization system, which makes anchoring a pleasure rather than a pain. Guests can watch sunsets without spilling their boat drinks.

The Beaches

Cruise through the Caribbean and Atlantic on the Leeward Islands tour, a seven-day itinerary that includes the islands of St. Martin, St. Barths, Antigua and St. Kitts and Nevis. The French West Indies tour includes the islands of St. Martin and St. Barths as well as St. Maarten and Anguilla. Guests work with the captain to choose the specifics of their particular trip.

The Boat

This luxurious motor yacht has three decks and can accommodate up to ten guests in five staterooms. All rooms have their own bathrooms. There is a professional crew of six, including a first class chef, as well as a wide array of “toys” – a 30’ rigid inflatable boat (RIB) for fishing, diving, waterskiing and shore excursions, paddleboards, surfboards, wakeboards, tubes, fishing gear and much more.

Buffett’s boat is also stocked with all of the latest equipment and entertainment, including more than 400 movies and thousands of songs on hard drive, iPod docks, phone service, flat screen TVs in every stateroom, satellite TV and high speed internet for those that just can’t pull up the anchor from the real world. There is even a 50” drop-down TV on the covered flybridge. A large daybed allows guests to watch movies under the stars while snuggling with their sweeties in the warm Caribbean breezes.

The price for this lovely cruise of luxury and secluded escape, you ask? All of this can be yours for the price of $65,000 per week (plus expenses). Based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Skywater Yachts is the brokerage firm that is overseeing the chartering of Jimmy Buffett’s Continental Drifter III. Sorry, Mr. Buffett will not be handling arrangements. He is busy with other stuff.

The Bars and Ballads

Jimmy Buffett is famous for his songs, restaurants, radio and retail endeavors, hotels, products and all-around Parrot Head lifestyle. Margaritaville Cafés are located across the country, the Caribbean and even Canada. Margaritaville casinos can be found in Biloxi, Mississippi and at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas. Atlantic City and Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati are scheduled to open in 2013. The Margaritaville Beach Hotel opened in Pensacola, Florida in 2010.
