Jimmie Johnson and wife announce they are expecting first child

Four-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson and his wife, Chandra, are expecting their first child. A spokesperson for Johnson says Chandra Johnson is due to give birth in July. No other details were announced.


Johnson made NASCAR history by becoming the first driver to win four consecutive titles in November. Johnson was also named AP Athlete of the Year last month.


The couple was married in December 2004.


The announcement come on the heels of similar news from two other Sprint Cup drivers.

Elliot Sadler and his wife, Angie, previously announced that they are expecting their first child in February. Carl Edwards and his wife, Katherine, are expecting their first child in March.
