Sylacauga, Alabama native, Jim Nabors announced his marriage to his partner of 38 years, Stan Cadwallader, in Seattle Washington in a short interview with ABC news on Jan. 30, 2013.
Nabors is famous for his portrayal of Gomer Pyle on The Andy Griffith Show and Gomer Pyle, U. S. M. C. Nabors also had a twenty-five year recording career that included twenty-eight albums and numerous singles with three gold and one platinum albums.
Nabors says his decision to marry will not take any form of activism or engagement in the on going debate about gay marriage.
One has to wonder if Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore will move to have U. S. Highway 280 in Talladega County, Alabama ("Jim Nabors Highway") named in honor of the Sylacauga native renamed considering Moore’s stance on gay marriage.
Perhaps Moore will seek to have Nabors stripped of his honorary promotion to Lance Corporal from the Commandant of the Marine Corps James L. Jones in 2001, and his promotion on Sept. 25, 2007, from Lance Corporal to Corporal by Lt. General John F. Goodman.
Should Nabors and his partner venture into Alabama will they could be arrested according to Moore’s interpretation of the law.
One just has to think Moore is thinking “Gollllll-ly!"
