Jim Nabors marries boyfriend after 38-year romance (Video)

Jim Nabors marries his boyfriend after a 38-year romance. The actor, who is best known for his role as the lovable, but dim-witted, Gomer Pyle on the 1960s television sitcom "Gomer Pyle, USMC," tied the knot with his beau in Seattle, Hawaii News Now reported on Jan. 29, 2013.

Following the nuptials, Nabors spoke about his relationship with new husband Stan Cadwallader, who is nearly 20 years his junior:

"I'm 82 and he's in his 60s and so we've been together for 38 years and I'm not ashamed of people knowing, it's just that it was such a personal thing, I didn't tell anybody," Nabors said. "I'm very happy that I've had a partner of 38 years and I feel very blessed. And, what can I tell you, I'm just very happy."

It's about time this loving couple made their relationship official. Four decades is an awfully long time to wait for a wedding band. However, the couple has obviously been just as committed to each other as any married couple. Plenty of marriages end long before the 40-year mark, and the handsome husbands no doubt faced difficulty getting married, being a same-sex couple.

Upon learning that Jim Nabors marries his male partner, people immediately began making jokes that used the Gomer Pyle catchphrases "Gollllll-ly," and "Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!" as their punch lines. It may all be in good fun, but these newlyweds deserve respect and consideration for their happy announcement.

Congratulations to Jim Nabors on his marriage to Stan Cadwallader.
