Jim Nabors has finally taken the plunge. After dating for longer than most marriages last, the actor best known for his role on “The Andy Griffith” show has married partner Stan Cadawallader, according to a Jan. 30 USA Today Report.
82-year old Nabors told Hawaii News Now that he wed Stan Cadwallader, 64, in Seattle on Jan. 15 after 38 years of dating. According to USA Today, same sex marriage became legal in Washington state in December and the two traveled from Hawaii for the ceremony. The couple was married by a judge who performed the ceremony in a hotel room.
“I'm not ashamed of people knowing, it's just that it was such a personal thing, I didn't tell anybody,” Nabors said, confirming that he has never discussed his personal life publicly before. “I'm very happy that I've had a partner of 38 years and I feel very blessed. And, what can I tell you, I'm just very happy.”
Speaking to Hawaii News Now about lack of secrecy on his part, the actor said, “I haven't ever made a public spectacle of it. Well, I've known since I was a child, so, come on. It's not that kind of a thing. I've never made a huge secret of it at all.”
