In the early 90's Frank Lisciandro, a film school friend of Jim Morrison and Ray Manazarek, who later collaborated on Doors projects such as “Feast of Friends” and Morrison’s “HWY” interviewed Jim Morrison’s friends and published abridged versions of those interviews in his book “Feast of Friends.” In “Jim Morrison: Friends Gathered Together” Lisciandro publishes for the first time the unedited and complete interviews he gathered for “Feast of Friends.” “Friends Gathered Together” contains interviews with friends from Morrison’s first year in high school through Morrison’s career as a rock star, and create an oral history of Morrison, the years they knew him, and Jim Morrison, the man they knew, from their perspective.

“Jim Morrison: Friends Gathered Together” also offers its readers fifty-seven of Frank Lisicandros photographs many of which have never been published before. “Jim Morrison: Friends Gathered Together” is now available on Amazon, (it was released January 16, 2014) for $23.75. I’ve placed my order for it and will publish a review later next week.

Also being released this week (January 21, 2014) is “The Doors: R-Evolution,” a look at The Doors through their television show appearances from January 1967 through the videos produced in the 80’s. I reviewed “The Doors: R-Evolution” in the article “The Doors: Through New Eyes.” “The Doors: R-Evolution” is available for pre-order at Amazon.
