The show, which put a bachelor or bachelorette on the podium interviewing three members of the opposite sex with the ultimate goal to pick one for 'a date'.

It first appeared at Christmas in 1965, and was the first endeavor by Chuck Barris productions. It ran on ABC through 1973, but continued in various incarnations off and on until 1999. It usually ran back to back with 'The Newlywed Game'.

With filming based in Hollywood, you would expect that occasionally someone would appear on the show that eventually would become famous. There were leading men and leading ladies out the wazoo! But a couple of governors? A serial killer? A Presidential candidate? A multiple Grammy award winning singer? A Mister Universe?

Check out the slideshow for a review of some of the more famous (and infamous) people who appeared on 'The Dating Game'. Then watch the video for a look at a young man who eventually made it big as part of another 'threesome'! (This time not with other guys.)

R.I.P. Jim Lange. You leave a lot of great memories. (and video!)
