Jim Kelly Files for Palm Beach County School Board District 4 Seat

On Wednesday, February 5, Jim Kelly officially filed his intent to run for Palm Beach County School Board, District 4. The district 4 seat is currently held by School Board Member Jennifer Prior Brown who announced she would not be seeking reelection. The District 4 race will be an open seat.

“I believe I can bring a wealth of experience to the School Board District 4 race. I have a record of solving issues through collaboration, team work and consensus building. As a board member, our residents can count on me to ensure our children are safe and are given the tools they need to succeed, our tax dollars are used effectively and the board is working together to address the concerns of parents, teachers and taxpayers,” Kelly stated.

Jim Kelly is the Executive Director of the Palm Beach Association of Chiefs of Police. For 23 years Jim Kelly served as the Police Chief for the Palm Beach County School District Police Department. In this role, Jim was responsible for the safety and security of students, employees, volunteers, and campus visitors as well as the security of all District facilities. Jim Kelly was responsible for oversight of all criminal and civil investigations within the District. He supervised over 184 sworn law enforcement officers and 200 civilian employees. From 2008-2012 Jim was responsible for the oversight and restructuring of Employee Relations. Jim Kelly brings valuable insight to the School Board race, not only regarding public safety, but with employee relations and training, student achievement and budgeting issues.
