Was Jim Jones arrested this week? The answer is sadly yes, as the mainstream rap artist was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct in New Jersey.
But before fans of the rapper jump to conclusions, the reason for his arrest might not be quite what you think it is.
While some rappers may get popped for drugs, alcohol, or guns, Jim Jones’ arrest doesn’t involve any of those things. According to the Washington Post, in fact, Jones was arrested shortly after he was simply questioned about a ticketed vehicle.
It’s believed that Jones became highly upset with the boys in blue questioned him about his checkered history with the law, including his failure to shovel snow from a sidewalk and his inability to yield to an emergency response vehicle.
Jim has since posted bail.
Jim Jones grew in popularity over the past two years thanks to his longtime girlfriend Chrissy Lampkin. Chrissy starred on the VH1 show “Love and Hip Hop,” a show that looked at how women in the music business balance their hip hop career ambitions with the personal and romantic life.
Jim then participated in a spin-off show called “Chrissy and Mr. Jones,” which aired in 2012.
