Jim Carrey feels great after switching to sugar- and wheat-free diet

Comedian Jim Carrey is feeling better than ever after switching to a strict diet that excludes sugar, wheat, dairy, coffee and soda.

On March 6, Carrey tweeted to his 10 million Twitter followers: "End of day 14. Diet is kicking in. Feeling relaxed, content, and even blissful, like i just got up from a good nap."

Jim, who followed an extreme diet to get ripped for the film "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone," has decided to continue with the clean-eating program despite expressing reservations about how hard the diet was to maintain.

The lanky 6-foot-2 Carrey says his new diet gives him all the nutrients he needs to be healthy and happy: "Protein, vegetables, legumes, rice, fruit, nuts, water contain all we need 2b healthy, happy n sharp-minded," he tweeted. "I believe this diet is more healing than drugs."

Jim, 51, continued: "I eat eggs, meat, fish n veggies cooked in olive oil, fruits, nuts, water, tea with honey or stevia, gluten-free crackers n almond butter 4 snack. When it comes to food and drugs, variety is the spice of death."

Carrey, who grew up poor in Ontario, Canada, has struggled with depression most of his life. After using the antidepressant Prozac for many years, Carrey says he stopped taking the drug when he started to feel better.

Jim says his new super-clean diet helps him feel great physically and mentally. "Clarity! Contentment! Youthfulness! Longevity! This diet, though tough at first, gives me that!" he tweeted. "Can you handle it? Just three weeks and you'll see!"
