Jim Carrey is not dead despite numerous reports. Inquisitr reported on Jan. 14 that another nasty internet death hoax reported that the actor passed away.

The news of Carrey's death spread like wildfire on Facebook. There was even a fan page titled "R.I.P. Jim Carrey". It gained one million "likes" over the weekend. The page even included the elaborate details of the actor's death.

"At about 11 am ET on Sunday (January 12, 2014), our beloved actor Jim Carrey passed away. Jim Carrey was born on January 17, 1962 in Newmarket. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting and liking this page."

Fans of the actor fell for the dirty internet hoax. They left their condolences like the page asked. Twitter even received its own share of messages over the actor's death.

A rep for Carrey said that the actor is very much alive. He's so alive that he recently attended the 2014 Golden Globe Awards. Fans were relieved to see the actor make an appearance at the event, where he was a presenter.

Jim Carrey is not the only actor who's been the victim of an internet death hoax. Other victims include Will Smith, Morgan Freeman, Bill Cosby and Jackie Chan. It's not sure how these hoaxes are started. But it's obvious that the person who starts it enjoys seeing it become a worldwide trend on the internet.
