Jill Stuart Fall 2013 collection a mix of frill and edge... (Photos)

The Inspiration: This season, Jill Stuart was inspired by über-chic, androgynous model Stella Tennant and her aristocratic Brit friends. Stuart mentioned backstage that she wanted to create beautiful, feminine pieces with a decided “edge” for those well- bred blue bloods that spend their time flitting from soirée to soirée at regal estates in the English countryside.

The Collection: The predominant colors in the collection consisted of black, white, and navy with a touch of gold, burnt orange and crimson thrown into the mix. There was heavy use of black wool guipure lace and shimmery silks adorned with small floral patterns and bold geometric stripes. The look was a combination of English schoolgirl and downtown edge with tailored lady like coats and dresses layered over prim and proper white shirts with asymmetrical bow detailing at the neck. Little black dresses with a very revealing keyhole gave the collection a bit of that downtown edge…

The Front Row: Actresses Zoe Kravitz, Chloe Bridges, Sophie Curtis, Maika Monroe and photographer Nigel Barker.

The Analysis: Very wearable pieces especially the coats and black wool guipure lace dresses and separates that will look just lovely paired with some tights and booties. Feminine party frocks that you can dress up or down and plenty of little black dresses to last you through the holiday party circuit! I also LOVED the blocky-heeled shoes that were featured throughout the show! A must have for next fall…
