The terrorist group known as al Salafiyya al Jihadiyya, who operate in the Sinai issued a threat on jihadists forums today, Oct. 4. They threatened to kill anyone who aids Egyptian security forces.
The intelligence group known as SITE translated the statement which denounced the Egyptian Army for waging a "a war on Islam and Muslims." The terrorist organization also said the Egyptian interim government was trying to push through a "new idolatrous constitution."
The jihadists said anyone giving Egyptian forces information were considered spies engaged in "sinful campaigns." Those who help the security forces are being called "apostates" and "deserve to be killed" by the jihadist group.
The jihadist group described Egyptian authorities, as "apostate forces," who were targeting anyone who lived along the border of the Sinai. They contend that Egyptian forces were trying to create "a buffer zone" to protect Jews from jihadi operations.
According to The Long War Journal the jihadist group, "reiterated accusations that the (Egyptian) army is killing innocent people in its operations in the Sinai." The jihadists also claimed that the army was "attacking everyone who has any Islamic appearance."
At the conclusion of their statement, they were offering anyone aiding Egyptian security forces a chance to repent. They said, "[T]he door of repentance is open to all who were tainted with agency, and we accept it from him no matter what his past actions."
In August 24 Egyptian police officers were killed by Muslim extremists who operated in the Sinai. Reuters reported that, "says the police officers were hit with machine gun fire and rocket-propelled grenades." Reports also say the officers were killed, "execution style" by the terrorists.
