At a sensitive time during an election year the raising of a sex scandal about past President John F. Kennedy may be of concern to some of the Democrats. Allegations of a long affair with a teen intern against JFK coupled with memories of the national trauma during the impeachment proceedings against President Bill Clinton in association with the Levinsky scandal have people wondering if such Democratic Party sex scandals could hurt President Obama's image. However, a question being shared among voters is should all of this moralizing about the personal lives of presidents really matter when it comes down to determining who is actually qualified to run the country.
Scandals about sex scandals with America's politicians remain nevertheless hot selling news items. Discovery News has reported "JFK Affair With Teen Intern Revealed in Book." According to a new book which was published this week by a 69-year-old grandmother who claims to be the late US president's lover, John F. Kennedy carried on an 18-month-long affair with a teenage White House intern. The New York Post released excerpts of this shocking memoir, "Once Upon a Secret: My Affair with President John F. Kennedy and Its Aftermath," on Monday.
Mimi Alford wrote in her book that her relationship with JFK started in the summer of 1962 at which time she was less than half the age of the president. JFK was assassinated the following year at age 46. Alford wrote that she met Kennedy just four days into her internship. She says the president invited her the following day on a personal tour of the White House residence which included first lady Jackie Kennedy's bedroom. Alford wrote that she lost her virginity to Kennedy that day.
Alford, who was known at the time as Mimi Beardsley, wrote in the excerpt "Slowly, he unbuttoned the top of my shirtdress and touched my breasts. Then he reached up between my legs and started to pull off my underwear. I finished unbuttoning my shirtdress and let it fall off my shoulders. After he finished, he hitched up his pants and smiled at me" before he pointed her in the direction of the bathroom. Alford wrote "I was in shock. He, on the other hand, was matter-of-fact, and acted as if what had just occurred was the most natural thing in the world."
One Kennedy biographer described Alford as a "tall, slender, beautiful" college sophomore. It is said her relationship continued with JFK for a year and a half, until their affair ended with Kennedy's assassination. Overall, it appears such allegations of womanizing has actually been part of the appeal which JFK has had for many of America's women and his memory continues to be an inspirational force for many people.
