Keesha Lewis is a one-of-a-kind artist. The Sacramento native “couldn’t find jewelry that suited her personality” so she designed her own.
“I do a variety of abstract jewelry art,” Lewis said in an interview at last night’s, Mar. 6, RAW Art “Generations” showcase. Lewis was introducing a new line of jewelry for 2013. Her medium is hand-formed metals- aluminum, copper
Lewis, who started her creative jewelry art business, Just Pretty Jewelry, five years ago in her small 2-bedroom home, said that her signature items are hand-formed flowers. “I’m stepping away from that though,” she said..
Pointing to a handful of models dressed in black and draped with various configurations of shiny chains, Lewis continued, “This is my new line for this Spring and Summer. It is body jewelry, body art. ‘Main chain’ is what I’m calling it.”
The talented artisan makes earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, and body jewelry, all hand crafted, one-of-a-kind. She also said she now makes “leg jewelry.”
Lewis said that leg chains originated on the East coast and are now becoming quite fashionable.
A apt description of Lewis’s creative artistry is found on the Just Pretty Jewelry website: - “Sassy, chic, rock ’n’ roll vibe with a vintage more classic sensibility making for a versatile and ever-changing statement collection.”
Keesha Lewis is a true natural born artist – a RAW artist that takes a “rad” idea and makes it into just pretty jewelry!
