Jewel and Ty Murray divorce: Country star and rodeo star split after six years

In shocking news today, Jewel and Ty Murray are getting a divorce. On Wednesday, US Magazine shared that the news that these two are calling it quits. This is really surprising to fans because they have appeared to have the perfect marriage the entire time they have been together. They live in Texas together and honestly have seemed to be the perfect couple.

Jewel went to her blog today to announce the news to fans. She wanted it to come from them. They were able to do a really good job of keeping it out of the tabloids. Nobody even had an idea that there were problems going on in their marriage. Here is what Jewel had to say in her statement:

"Dear World. It is infinitely strange to write those words, especially considering the personal nature of the topic, which is the purpose of my writing today. But the truth is I have lived my life in the public eye since I was nineteen. And while it is intimidating to live a life in the public, it has also been a privilege to make a living with my words, my thoughts, my feelings. Which brings me to this highly personal announcement today. My husband, friend and partner of 16 years and I have decided to get a divorce."

Ty and Jewel have only been married for six years, but they have been together for 16 years. She went on to say that they have lived an authentic life and they are trying to do this all in a loving way. They have one son together and he is their top priority at this time. Their son Kase was born in July of 2011.

Jewel feels like things are going to be fine between them. She feels like they can remain good friends which is very important for their son. Hopefully this won't be a big messy divorce and they can find a way to make it work. Neither one of them is sharing what caused them to decide that it was time to split. They did not have a nanny but instead raised their son on their own.

People shared pictures of their son when he was born in 2011. They live together on a 2,400-acre ranch in Stephenville, Texas. They picked out his name because it was a strong name and they liked it. Fans are wishing them the best during this hard time.
