Jevan Snead, junior QB at Ole Miss, has decided to enter the 2010 NFL draft. It seems the Snead is getting some bad advice, he will enter the 2010 NFL draft with his stock being at the lowest point I t has been in quite some time. No one seems to be in his ear telling him being a weak QB; in a generally weak QB class is not the way to secure a fortune in the NFL.
To be perfectly honest it seems that Snead will test the draft waters, file his paperwork with the NFL advisory board, and figure out for himself that he needs another year in school.
In 2009 at Ole Miss, Snead threw 20 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions. He threw for les yards, and his completion percentage were all down from the numbers he put up in his sophomore year.
While this is a kid with a big arm, and good size, many NFL scouts are going to question in decision making, and his overall talent. Sure he is a talented QB, but that talent has not lived up to his potential. Which means he is late round draft pick at best.
Now Snead was sacked 20 times in 2008, and 15 times in 2009. SO maybe he is tired of getting beaten up for free, but this is a kid with something to prove, and if he cannot prove it at the Scouting Combine the better course of action would be to prove it in the UFL next season. There he would be given a change to start; in the NFL he is going to be holding a clipboard for the next few years.
