The Week 5 NFL schedule concludes tonight when the New York Jets take on the Atlanta Falcons from Atlanta. If you would have told fans back in Week 1 of the season that one of these teams would be 2-2 and the other would be 1-3 coming into this game, 90% would surely have said it would be the Jets at 1-3 and the Falcons at 2-2.
Well, it’s just the opposite.
Things have not gone to plan for the Falcons, and if they get upset tonight by the Jets at home – it may get ugly.
According to a Sportsline report on Oct. 7, the Falcons aren’t worried quite yet, but they know they need to right the ship tonight.
"You just don't panic," said wideout Roddy White, who continues to play through an ankle injury. "You are what you earn in this league, so we're 1-3. You just go out there and correct the problems that you have and get ready for the next game. We know at 1-3 that we can't get back to .500 after one game."
As for the Jets, they have been hard to figure out as well.
One week rookie QB Geno Smith looks like the real deal, the next he looks like he is running plays that no one else on the Jets heard of.
Either way, all that matters in the NFL is wins or losses, and so far the Jets are doing better than expected. With a win tonight the Jets would move to 3-2 on the season, something no one thought would happen.
Vegas odds makers have the Falcons a huge favorite in tonight's game at -10 with the over/under number set at 44.
Ten points seems like a lot here, especially since the Jets have a good defense and the Falcons aren't as good as advertised. I'm not sky-high on this pick, but I like the points here.
Pick: Jets +10
