JetBlue adds SFO flights

JetBlue Airways announced Wednesday that it will add a second daily nonstop flight between San Francisco and Fort Lauderdale and a second daily summer seasonal flight between San Francisco and Austin.

"We're pleased to give customers more options to enjoy the JetBlue Experience with double the service from San Francisco to Austin and Fort Lauderdale," said JetBlue's Vice President Network Planning and Partnerships Scott Laurence in a statement. "With first checked bag free, lots of room to stretch out, and the best service in the skies, we're confident that customers will love flying with us for the long haul."

The new flight to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) departs San Francisco (SFO) at 2:25 p.m. and arrives at 10:56 p.m. The flight from FLL departs at 10:40 a.m. and arrives at 1:34 p.m.

The new flight to Austin (AUS) departs SFO at 11:39 p.m. and arrives at 5 a.m. (next day). The flight from AUS departs at 8:59 p.m. and arrives at 10:54 p.m.

Both services begin May 21. The Austin service will run through Sep. 2.

JetBlue made these announcements the day after Virgin America said it was starting service from San Francisco to Austin. Virgin America’s new SFO-AUS route will also begin on May 21.
