The act of washing feet has a great metaphysical significance that relates to our quest for a higher consciousness. During the preparations for Passover Jesus washed the feet of all the disciples, even the one that would betray him. The Passover is most commonly known as a "Jewish Feast" or in traditional Christianity Passover it is recognized as the time Jesus would leave the World and join God in Heaven. The metaphysical translation represents a change in consciousness and spirituality . Charles Fillmore of the Unity movement once wrote "to take on the Christ consciousness men pass over from the mortal to the spiritual consciousness." So what is a "mortal" consciousness? A mortal consciousness is what ultimately shapes our race consciousness. The beliefs in materiality, focused on this material World as being separate from God is mortal consciousness. Many believe the race consciousness of the failing economy, failing health and finances and hold those beliefs as truth than the belief in many mansions. Thoughts of lack and limitation can cloud the perception and it is important not to speak that lack and limitation into existence. In conscious spirituality it is said" thoughts in mind create after their own kind, and thoughts may be considered a spiritual prayer form. What is thought of most predominately is what will be produced outwardly. It is wise to become the observer as the Buddha suggests. Step out of the normal routine for some inner work. Listen to what you tell others and listen to what you tell yourself. Perhaps it is time for a mental detox which metaphysically may have been what took place during the washing of the feet story in the Bible.
While preparing for Passover Jesus performed the act of washing the apostles feet this was an act of love and humility. He was said to take off his outer garment and don a towel. When he got to the disciple Peter, the metaphysical representation of faith, Peter objected. "Why do you do this Lord", he asked. Peter did not want Jesus to kneel and wash his feet, as he felt it was menial labor and not a task Jesus should perform. It was customary during those times for the servant of the house to wash the feet of those entering, certainly not someone of Jesus stature. Jesus replied "if you do not let me wash you feet, then you will not be a part of me". Peter then humbly requested that Jesus not only wash his feet but his hands and head as well.
Jesus needed the faculty of faith and all the metaphysical powers in balance.
The washing of feet is the denial of materiality, the washing away of the belief that anything outside of mind, iu has the power to manifest abundance. Material things may be nice but that peace that surpasses all understanding comes from within and shows outwardly. Prosperity cannot be bought or taken away.
The abundance of God is the one power and presence back of all things. Negative conditions may arise however the one presence and power is always there. It is important to hold a prosperity consciousness in each and every situation. Speak health and life into existence. Affirm abundance. And remember it is important to wash away any thoughts that are not in alignment with the desired condition. Water represents a powerful metaphysical force. When Jesus had finished washing the feet of each of the twelve apostles. He requested they wash each others feet as a symbol of respect for each other. "The master is not greater than his servant, each should behave humbly and kindly toward each other".
