The Jesus tattoo billboards are finally explained, as images of Jesus sporting tattoos have popped up on 59 billboards in the last few days. The anonymous group has sent a message with their Jesus tattoo billboards of “unconditional love,” reports 14U News on Oct. 12.
The shocking billboards are drawing much attention today, but the group explains the message is very simple.
“Whatever burdens you may have in this world, if you love Jesus Christ he will take them upon himself for your sake,” this is what the tattooed Jesus was meant to depict.
The unnamed group insists they are not anti-religious and their Jesus tattoo billboards don’t reflect anything that can be called anti-religious. This comes after claims that the billboard was “sacrilegious,” which was heard across social networks and in the media in the last few days.
The Jesus tattoo billboards directs people to a website where Jesus is depicted as a tattoo artist removing negative tattoo words and replacing them with positive words. Jesus then reveals he has all the negative tattoos that he removed, as a symbol for him carrying your burdens.
Residents in Lubbock, Texas were up in arms over this depiction of Jesus tattooed on a billboard, but this unnamed group claims it just wants to “start a dialogue between churchgoers and those who don’t go to church.” This group at least got half their goal down pat, they started a dialog all right, but it is mostly from folks not liking Jesus with ink!
