Two thousand years ago, give or take a few years, Jesus gave the scribes and the Pharisees a piece of His mind, and a foretaste of the wrath of the Father, when He delivered His famous sevenfold indictment (Matthew 23:13-22) of their hypocrisy. Likewise, we can most certainly hear what he would say if He were to meet similar characters today.
For in the Church's Tradition and Magisterium, this is what we might expect.
'Alas for you, secularists and theologians, you hypocrites! You who shut up the kingdom of heaven...' It is bad enough that secularists have campaigned mightily against the Catholic Tradition of Jesus and demythologized His perception through an all out and exhaustive popular propaganda campaign. But it is even more shameful that theologians, religious sisters, and priests from the pulpit, have joined in on the deconstruction of the divine Jesus, distilling a neutered Jesus of a purely human origin. An example of this would be the nonsensical theology which purports Jesus' ignorance of His own divinity, only stumbling upon His divinity through proclamations of St. John the Baptist. Personally, I had to endure a homily of this kind in my local parish a few years back.
'Alas for you, capitalists and socialists, you hypocrites! You who travel over land and sea to make a single proselyte, and when you have him you make him twice as fit for hell as you are.' Evangelization was not meant to be an instrument of sharing one's personal gospel. The Good News, though, meant for all, is about One, Jesus Christ our Lord. Salvation is not in the capitalistic gospel of prosperity. God cares not what you drive, or that which you govern, but he, or she, whom you forgive and love. Likewise, salvation is not found in a socialist gospel of entitlement and welfare giving. God cares not how many mouths you've fed if there are as many babies simultaneously aborted.
"'Alas for you, blind guides! You who say, 'If a man swears by the Church it has no force; but if a man swears by his, or her, personal Catholic conscience he is bound.'" Cafeteria Catholicism proudly parades anti-Catholic 'success stories' such as Barack Obama, abortion on demand, rampant divorce, contraception, gay marriage, and HHS religious persecution, while seeking for more in married, gay and female priests, and a purely democratic Church. While Jesus seeks for obedient disciples, the American progressive Cafeteria Catholic seeks for an obedient Church.
Surely this would anger the Lord.
