Son of God
When in doubt, quote somebody important. Even when you are sure, quote somebody important. How is this for a quote. “Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” (John 1:29). John the Baptist goes on to explain that this was the man about whom he had been prophesying—the one that he was not even worthy to tie his sandal straps.
If you liked that quote, you will love the next one. “This is my son. I love him very much and I am very pleased with him.” (John 1:32-34; Matthew 3:13-17 composite). Yes, God opened heaven and announced that this was his Son.
This would not be a singular occurrence. Later in his ministry as the time for his death drew nearer, Jesus would be transfigured by God and God would once again declare Jesus to be his son. In royal lineage terms, God declares that Jesus is Lord, and further commands the three who accompany Jesus to listen to him.
After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus.
Peter said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters — one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah." 6 (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.) Then a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and a voice came from the cloud: "This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!" Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus. Mark 9:2-8 NIV
This survey explores and confirms that this is a very viable thread throughout the gospels, epistles, and eschatology of the New Testament. Decide for yourself if you agree with Dr. Rustenhaven and myself, that the message of the New Testament is JESUS IS LORD!

What do you call a guy with degrees in Political Science and Biblical Studies? What do you call someone that served as a Marine Officer for over 20 years and now pastors a church? What do you call someone with this unique perspective of the kingdom of the world and the kingdom of God?
Most folks just call me Tom.
