Jesus is Lord: Luke 2 - Lordship

 Luke 2: Lordship
This single chapter screams lordship. The words read so often at Christmas time, “In those days Caesar Augustus…” The heavenly host in great company and the angel speaking to shepherds, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.” adds something majestic to the birth announcement. On the eighth day when Jesus was to be circumcised, we see another revelation that this is a very special child. The Holy Spirit had revealed to Simeon that he would not die until he saw the Christ. Simeon recognized the child as the Christ and not only proclaimed that he could pass away in peace, but that this child would be a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for the glory of Israel.
Still in this chapter, we find the all so familiar episode of Jesus remaining in Jerusalem after the Passover and his parents having to return to find him. His reply, “Did you not know I had to be in my Father’s house?” gives us insight into his divine lineage and his lordship.

This survey explores and confirms that this is a very viable thread throughout the gospels, epistles, and eschatology of the New Testament. Decide for yourself if you agree with Dr. Rustenhaven and myself, that the message of the New Testament is JESUS IS LORD!
