Although divine, God humbled himself and took on the position as one who serves God through the example of Jesus Christ. Jesus, although appearing in the flesh, was and is God himself. What God did for us, through Christ, he taught us how to live as a true child of God while on earth.
Through the cross, Jesus revealed to every believer that as God’s spirit [which is sinless] dwells within them, that it is possible to live through his Holy Spirit, who would lead and guide the believer’s walk according to the righteous word of God, which would lead the believer away from sinning against God.
“But when the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) comes, Whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth Who comes (proceeds) from the Father, He [Himself] will testify regarding Me.” John 15:26
Jesus was and is the resurrection. He was revealing to those who believe that he was already living out the resurrection life.
Although Jesus was as sin, but knew no sin, he was baptized with water for the remission of our sins, asking for forgiveness, which serves as a commitment to only serve God.
Having been born of the spirit of God through our confession of Christ, we can now live out the resurrected life which Jesus lived beforehand, as an example to those who believe that with God all things are possible.
As believers, when we confess that Jesus Christ is our Lord God, this brings glory and honor to God’s name, as we are recognizing him as the only true Living God, and the Master over all.
You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
“Though he was God,
he did not think of equality with God
as something to cling to.
Instead, he gave up his divine privileges;
he took the humble position of a slave
and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form,
he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor
and gave him the name above all other names,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:5-11
