Mere months after leaving Sleeping With Sirens, Jessie Lawson has lunged forward with his indiegogo campaign to secure funds ($15,000) for his new album, Chapter 2. According to him, he had ideas for the songs on the upcoming EP way back when he was touring with SWS, and after getting off their seemingly endless tour schedule, he's ready to head the new project.
Lawson left his old band mates on supposedly good terms with a desire to get back to his family. Sleeping With Sirens does have an extraordinary tour schedule all over the world. Once back in the seat, they're ready to get back on the road, so perhaps it did take its toll. But with Lawson having only five months to procure producers, studios, musicians, and finish off the writing for an independent release, it's easy to suggest that it was most likely a premeditated project.
Of course, nobody can say that officially unless Lawson himself admitted it, but whether he wanted to get outside of SWS so he could head his own thing, or it was just his creative side pushing out of the stagnation, doesn't really matter either way. The good news is, Lawson is an excellent guitar player, and we can look forward to new music from him. As well, SWS is doing pretty well, so there's that too.
