Jessie James' video for "When You Say My Name" has unseated Toby Keith's party anthem "Red Solo Cup" at CMT for Top Video of the Day. And from the looks of it, a lot of people are going to be saying the name of this rising star.
The video from the former pop starlet debuted Feb. 3 on CMT, and it looks like the lady isn't wasting any time making a splash in the country world. "When You Say My Name" is James' first single on Show Dog/Universal Music and was produced by none other than label president Mark Wright himself.
The move to country seems like destiny -- would you believe that her real name is Jessica Rosel James? So she really does have the namesake of a western outlaw.
James still has some pop connections, however. The songstress inspired none other than Katy Perry herself to write a song for her and you can hear the demo by Perry here. Suffice it to say she doesn't need to worry about anyone else picking up the song:
"Well, why do you think they call me Jessie James?
Sweet as a peach, impossible to tame
Fingers on the trigger and you’ll be to blame
Cause if you stay"
Yep, I think that's a keeper for James, and bound to be a big hit.
The video for "When You Say My Name," directed by Kristin Barlowe, will also run on CMT Pure, the network's digital all-music channel.
