Jessica Simpson to star in new NBC comedy based on her own life

Jessica Simpson seems to be everywhere these days. She has had many careers so far as a pop singer, reality star, fashion and beauty entrepreneur, spokesperson for Weight Watchers, and not to mention being a new mom with one more on the way. Now the blond beauty can add on comedy star to her list of accomplishments. Deadline has reported on Jan. 15 that NBC has ordered a new pilot for a comedy show based on Simpson’s life.

The half-hour comedy has Simpson, NBC and Electus in collaboration together as they have been with their most recent reality show, “Fashion Star.” One of the executive producers, Ben Silverman called the expectant mom a modern day Lucy. Simpson became highly recognizable when she starred in one of the first hit MTV reality series, “Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica” with her ex-husband Nick Lachey. She also appeared in “That 70’s Show” and had a role in the movie remake of “The Dukes of Hazzard.” She made the ‘Daisy Dukes’ famous again.

This new venture into comedy for the 32-year-old actress may just be her cup of tea. She sounds like she is looking forward to something new and different. She said, “I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life- so between the real life elements and a great team of writers, I think we’ll have people laughing!"
