Jessica Simpson is fitter than ever after losing 70 pounds on a low-carb diet and walking six miles a day on the treadmill.

“Jessica has gotten her best body ever,” a source told Life & Style. “She truly feels like she’s in better shape than she was in her early 20s. Jess probably spends half the day at the gym."

Simpson also does yoga at home and works out at the gym for 45 minutes, four days a week, with her longtime trainer Harley Pasternak, creator of the 5-Factor Workout DVD.

Harley said Jessica's workouts combine 10 to 20 minutes of cardio exercise, 20 to 30 minutes of resistance training, and lots of flexibility moves. Pasternak, author of The Body Reset Diet, also trains Halle Berry, Megan Fox and Lady Gaga.

Simpson has reportedly stepped up her diet and workout regimen ahead of her upcoming wedding to former NFL star Eric Johnson.

Jessica, a rep for Weight Watchers, has credited a low carb diet and rigorous daily workouts for her dramatic weight loss. Jessica's diet typically features high-quality proteins like salmon and chicken, fresh vegetables, and lots of salads. She also avoids processed foods and limits sugar.

Jessica, who gained about 70 pounds during both her pregnancies, previously confessed her weight gain made her depressed. "I was so insecure; I couldn't even believe what I weighed," she said. "It is a really hard thing to go through."

'My Weight Struggles Made Me Rich'

Ironically, Jessica said her weight problems are part of the reason she's so successful with her clothing line, which boasts annual sales of $1 billion. Simpson said women relate to her because she's not naturally skinny and has weight issues, just like many of them do.

“I have been every size on the planet and I understand women,” Jessica told Forbes. “I definitely go up and down with my weight, and I'm really honest about it. If I'm five pounds heavier, if I'm 50 pounds heavier, or five pounds lighter, I just don’t think it should define who you are."

Simpson said she is glad she never caved in to the extreme pressure to resort to starvation diets or other unhealthy measures. "I was proud of myself throughout that period for not doing every crash diet and trying to get as skinny as I could, or not eating," said Jessica.
