Jessica Simpson is done with acting.
The 33-year-old mother of two, who burst on the scene as a conservative pop star in 1999, is telling her close friends and confidants that she would be perfectly content never returning to a studio again and is only staying in Southern California so that her fiancé, Eric Johnson, can golf year-round.
"Jessica has told friends that she’s 100 percent done with acting and never wants to read another script,” the insider explained to Radar Online on December 12. "Although critics laugh about her 'acting,' the truth is, she could make a couple of million dollars a year just with the network guest starring roles she’s offered as well as TV commercials, which she doesn’t enjoy. More than ever Jessica is strictly a businesswoman — with such lucrative ventures as her shoe line — and a mom and she just doesn’t care at all about being an entertainer or part of the social scene of film making in L.A."
Although making a couple million a year would be ideal for some, Jessica simply doesn't need it. Her brand is doing extremely well and produces her more than enough income to live luxuriously and support her family of four. So, she certainly doesn't need to act and if she doesn't enjoy it, why go that route?
"She really keeps L.A. as their home base for Eric — his closest friends live there and he’s so addicted to golf that the weather makes it one of the best places to live," the source adds. "Jessica loves New York City but they don’t live there full time because Eric needs to be out on the golf course even in the winter."
In addition to that, living in the sunshine is better for her kids. Instead of being trapped inside for part of the year, they can enjoy the outdoors year round, playing together in their yard and visiting the beach which isn't far from home.
