Jessica Simpson overcomes 'mom jeans' stigma as she wins at weight loss

When it comes to fashion statements, being associated with loosely fitting, elastic band "mom jeans" ranks bottom on the list of desired designations. But Jessica Simpson refuses to stress about the media's commentary on her mom jean choices, reported Fox News on Jan. 7.

“What’s so unbelievable is that I was probably at least 15 pounds smaller than I am right now,” Jessica says about the mom jeans jokes.

“What’s more unbelievable is that the press could create something like that out of a pair of jeans…what woman wants to be brought down for wearing a pair of jeans?” she demands in an interview with Redbook magazine.

Now she's proudly flaunting her figure after shedding her baby weight by visiting "Good Morning America" on Jan. 7. Admitting that the fat-shaming slams frustrated her, Jessica says that she was much more careful about her diet during her second pregnancy.

"I just let myself have whatever I wanted, I didn't care. It wasn't about weight gain for me," Jessica recalls of her first pregnancy.

In contrast, "when I was pregnant with Ace, my second, I was already on Weight Watchers, and I had already lost 50 pounds, so I wasn't as relaxed in my eating as I was with Maxwell."

And for those who focus on diets, Jessica takes a different approach.

"It's a lifestyle, I have tried so many diets and I feel like with Weight Watchers it just becomes a part of who you are," she told GMA.

"As a mom, I just have this confidence: I just feel so proud of what I've done and what I've accomplished — and I just do feel this need to be the best role model for my children," said Jessica.

She's not the only one who feels that Weight Watchers works: U.S. News & World Report released its annual ratings of the best diets on Jan. 7, and Weight Watchers won for weight loss: Get the details by clicking here.
