Jessica Simpson followed a low-carb vegan diet in the two weeks leading up to her wedding, Us reported. Simpson lost 70 pounds recently on a low-carb Weight Watchers diet (for which she's a rep), but switched to the meat-free vegan diet shortly before her wedding to slim down even more.

"Jessica did a vegan diet for about two weeks leading up to the wedding," said a source, who said Simpson supplemented her vegan diet with plenty of vitamin B12 shots to boost energy.

Simpson's husband, Eric Johnson, is a longtime vegan. Sources said Jessica was a gorgeous bride whose strapless champagne-and-gold Carolina Herrera wedding dress accentuated her slim physique.

Celebs Go Vegan for Weight Loss and Health

Simpson joins a growing list of celebrity vegans, including Jared Leto, Samuel L. Jackson (who lost 40 pounds after going vegan), Scarlett Johansson, and Al Sharpton. They have all credited the vegan diet for its anti-aging health benefits and natural weight loss without calorie restriction.

Jennifer Lopez recently attributed her 10-pound weight loss to her five-week vegan diet. Lopez is no longer 100 percent vegan, but sticks to a mostly vegan diet because it has motivated her to eat more vegetables.

"The truth is, even if you’re 70-80 percent vegan, it’s so much better having those vegetables, greens, and plant-based stuff," said Jennifer. "It’s going to change your life and health.”

In addition to a healthy, portion-controlled diet, Simpson credited rigorous workouts for her dramatic wedding-day weight loss. Jessica walked six miles a day, did yoga, and worked out at the gym for 45 minutes, four days a week, with her longtime trainer Harley Pasternak.

Harley said Jessica's workouts combine 10 to 20 minutes of cardio exercise, 20 to 30 minutes of resistance training, and lots of flexibility moves. Pasternak also trains Halle Berry, Megan Fox (who lost weight on the Paleo diet) and Lady Gaga.

'My Weight Problems Made Me Rich'

Jessica, who has struggled with weight her entire life, confessed her baby-weight gain made her depressed and insecure. "I was so insecure; I couldn't even believe what I weighed," she said. "It is a really hard thing to go through."

Ironically, Simpson said her weight problems are part of the reason she's so successful with her clothing line, which boasts annual sales of $1 billion. Simpson said women relate to her because she's not naturally skinny and has weight issues, just like many of them do.

“I have been every size on the planet and I understand women,” she told Forbes. “I definitely go up and down with my weight, and I'm really honest about it. If I'm five pounds heavier, if I'm 50 pounds heavier, or five pounds lighter, I just don’t think it should define who you are."

Jessica said she is glad she never caved in to the extreme pressure to resort to starvation diets or other unhealthy measures. "I was proud of myself throughout that period for not doing every crash diet and trying to get as skinny as I could, or not eating," she said.
